Meet our #SDBC Feature of the Week!

A native of Western NY, Tonya Dickerson desires to be the change she wishes to see. With over 13 years of experience in workforce development, Tonya works in higher education as an academic and career advisor. Tonya holds a bachelor's from the University of Michigan, a master's from Medaille College, and is currently working on her doctorate at St. John Fisher College.

One of the main ways Tonya enjoys her best single is by giving back to the community. Tonya is a true believer in the phrase "Each one, Teach one” and enjoys helping others reach their potential, especially BIPOC youth. In the community, Tonya volunteers with several organizations whose missions range from equitable youth education, promoting anti-violence, and leadership. In the spirit of social entrepreneurship, Tonya created i3 Consulting, which assists individuals in achieving career and leadership goals. Tonya is also in the process of developing a brand called Influenthropist. With the motto, "Influence, Impact, Inspire," Influenthropist's objective is to educate on the importance of philanthropy, feature "do-gooders," and generate personal charitable endeavors.

Aside from community work, Tonya lives the single life being a goofball and hanging out with her supportive tribe; trying new restaurants, foods, and flavors (a known Oreo cookie fanatic); listening to music; watching sports; getting her nerd on as a history buff and political junkie to name a few. Additionally, Tonya is a proud member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
