SDBC Feature of the Week: Yvette Conyers
Meet our #SDBC Feature of the Week!
In December 2019, Yvette went on her first solo trip bringing in the 2020 new year. A type of trip that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. The process was one of self-discovery and of healing and creating new experiences. A solo trip is one where no one is around imposing their opinion or judgement, just you and your own thoughts and decisions. After going back and forth about traveling solo, Yvette realized it was the perfect time for her. Prior to this, eating out alone was something exciting and brave Yvette liked to do. She believes that time waits on no one so she often would do things alone or with a few close friends. Even though she experienced moments of loneliness while doing things alone, knowing that it would be short term is what helped to get her through. She embraced each moment as they came and walked with her head held high thanking God each step of the way.
Yvette is a single mom, nursing educator and clinician. She has been a Registered Nurse since 2003 and a certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2013. She is an Assistant Professor at St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Nursing. She teaches population and community health nursing and nursing leadership. Yvette has one son who is 20 years old.
